ReviewVigil ("we") is a Chrome extension that checks the authenticity of the customer reviews on a product page you choose. It is operated by NHM Global Advisory alongside PageVigil and shares the same hosted backend. This policy explains what ReviewVigil collects and why. The short version: we collect only what a review check needs, we don't sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.
What we collect
Account data: your email address, used for sign-in (one-time codes) and to keep track of your daily free checks. We never see or store a password.
The page you submit for a check: when you click "Check reviews" on a product page, ReviewVigil sends that page's URL and its visible text to our server so the reviews can be analyzed. This happens only on the page you explicitly submit — never in the background and never on other pages.
Analysis results: the authenticity verdict for a page (grade, estimated rating, signals) is stored and briefly cached so repeat checks are fast and to enforce free-tier limits.
Billing data: if you upgrade for unlimited checks, payment is processed by Stripe. We store only your plan and a Stripe customer reference — never card numbers.
What we don't collect
No browsing history. ReviewVigil reads a page only when you actively click "Check reviews", and only to analyze that page's reviews.
No location, no financial information, no personal communications.
No tracking pixels, no advertising identifiers, no data resale. There are no ads and no affiliate links.
How the page content is processed
The product-page text you submit is sent to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude, via API) to assess whether the visible reviews show signs of manipulation. Only the content of the page you submitted is sent — never your account details. We do not use your submitted content to train models.
Service providers
Supabase — database and authentication hosting (EU region)
We do not sell your data and do not share it for any purpose unrelated to running ReviewVigil. Data is shared only with the service providers listed above, solely to operate the service.
Retention & deletion
Cached review analyses expire automatically. Deleting your account deletes all associated data. To request account deletion or a copy of your data, email pagevigil@clearcomply.co.za.
Extension permissions
activeTab / scripting: used only when you click "Check reviews", to read the current page's address and visible text so its reviews can be analyzed. ReviewVigil never runs on pages you have not explicitly submitted.
storage: stores your sign-in session locally in your browser.
ReviewVigil executes no remote code; all logic ships inside the extension package.
